Amanda Holden enrages Britain's Got Talent audience with D-Day comparison
SHE'S not usually one to court controversy but Amanda Holden found herself in hot water after last night's Britain's Got Talent.
The 43-year-old actress compared an act on the show to the D-Day landings - which didn't go down well with fans on social networking site Twitter.
The star had just watched 79-year-old Paddy Jones perform a vigorous dance routine with her dance partner Nico.
Amanda looked tearful as she was asked for her opinion and said she "admired her fighting spirit" and said the day should be renamed "Pad-D-Day".
One Twitter user said: "Did @Amanda_Holden just belittle the heroism of the d-day landings by comparing them to salsa dancing on @GotTalent ? #nomate"
While another posted: "Disrespectful of Amanda Holden to compare that act to D-Day, yes the women dancing is brave and strong but have some class. #BGTFinal"
While Amanda made the off-the-cuff remark with good intentions, it wasn't well received.
The actress hasn't made reference to the comment on her Twitter account, but has posted about the winning act Collabro.
She was spotted out last night with her husband Chris and co-judge Simon Cowell celebrating the final episode of Britain's Got Talent.
The star changed out of her revealing dress and into skin-tight leather leggings and a backless black halter neck.
