'There is a story' Sarah Jessica Parker hints at third Sex and the City movie
FANS have been itching for another movie ever since 2010, and now it seems that Sex and the City 3 could be on the horizon.
Star of the hit HBO TV show and films, Sarah Jessica Parker has admitted that a story for a possible third film has been thought of, but she doesn't know if the movie will ever be made.
Speaking today at Cannes Lions 2014 she said: "We’ve never really had real conversation about it, other than that I know there is a story. I think it’s a really lovely, wonderful story but whether or not we tell it remains to be seen."
The mother-of-three - who was in conversation with Cosmopolitan Editor In Chief Joanna Coles - opened up about the popular franchise as well as other aspects of her successful career.
We’ve never really had real conversation about it, other than that I know there is a story. I think it’s a really lovely, wonderful story but whether or not we tell it remains to be seen
Speaking about her initial reaction to the TV show, in which she plays journalist Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah said: "When the project was first presented to me, you have to remember that at the time HBO was a very different channel, it was a very male orientated platform for distribution.
"What was lovely is that we produced an entire first season without being on the air so we had no idea, first of all no point of reference, it was a voice that was new and it was slightly subversive and it had a point of view that was sort of singular so we couldn’t look at anything else and say if that had success then we might."
She continued: "So we produced an entire season and then it was a sort of slow burn. We had to cultivate the female audience and to change the viewing habits."
Sex and the City first hit the small screen in 1998 and finished in 2004.
Four years later fans were delighted when Sarah, Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon returned with the first Sex and the City movie which saw Mr Big leave Carrie standing at the alter.
Two years later they returned to screens for the sequel, which was set two years after the first one and saw the foursome head on holiday to Abu Dhabi.
