Hollywood star Amy Adams gives up her first class seat for soldier and flies coach instead
SHE'S been labelled as one of the most humble actresses in Tinsel Town, and Amy Adams has gone on to prove that she might well be one of the most generous too.
The American Hustle star traded her first class seat on an early-morning flight from Detroit to Los Angeles with a soldier on Friday, and flew coach instead.
Apparently the star quietly arranged the swap with a flight attendant after she spotted the serviceman in his uniform at the gate.
Speaking after the flight, she revealed that the move was something she has always wanted to do.
Talking to Inside Edition, she said: "I didn't do it for the attention for myself.
"I did it for the troops."
However, despite not wanting to cause a scene, many of the passengers had noticed what the oscar-winning actress had done and managed to get photos with the star, who happily posed.
ESPN star Jemele Hill, who was on the flight, saw what happened and spoke to Today after the flight landed at LAX at 10.30am on Friday.
"When we were waiting to board, I saw her glance the soldier's way and then she said something to the person she was traveling with," she said.
"Once we boarded, I saw she was in first class.
"I was upgraded to first class and she was a couple rows behind me.
"I think she must have said something to the flight attendant, because before we took off she had vacated her seat and the flight attendant brought the soldier to her seat.
"I just thought it was incredibly classy and thoughtful.
"I already was a fan of hers, but now I'm a bigger one after today."
Amy was born on a U.S military base in Italy and grew up on a base in Colorado and has often spoke glowingly about her father's time in the military.
