Sopranos wardrobe benefits charity
Twenty-five outfits worn by James Gandolfini's alter ego Tony Soprano have sold for 187,750 US dollars (£95,470) to benefit a charity that helps soldiers wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The actor attended the Christie's auction in New York with a soldier from the Wounded Warrior Project.
The highest bid was 43,750 dollars (£22,247)for a faux bloodstained costume.
It consists of a black and beige short-sleeve polo shirt, white tank top and black trousers, which Gandolfini wore in a scene when Tony was shot by a demented Uncle Junior.
Its pre-sale estimate was 3,000 dollars (£1,525).
The next highest bid was 21,250 dollars (£10,806), for a four-piece costume that includes a blue, red and yellow striped robe and boxer shorts that Tony wore in numerous episodes of the popular HBO series.
