Marley's One Love tops Jamaican song poll
Reggae legend BOB MARLEY's ONE LOVE has been named Jamaica's unofficial national anthem in a new poll.
The laidback tune topped a list of Jamaica's 100 best songs over the past 50 years, as decided by a panel of West Indies scholars, musicians and dignitaries.
Marley landed nine songs in the top 100 and his Simmer Down also made the top 10 - at nine.
One Love was a clear winner, ahead of the Folkes Brothers' O Carolina, which was also a hit for Shaggy, and ska heroes The Maytals' 54-45, which came in third.
Organised by scholars at the University of the West Indies, the panel included Sly & Robbie star Sly Dunbar and Jamaica's former Finance and Planning Minister Omar Davies.
The top five tunes of the last 50 years are:
1. One Love by Bob Marley & the Wailers
2. Oh Carolina by The Folkes Brothers
3. 54-45 by The Maytals
4. Got to Go Back Home by Bob Andy
5. My Boy Lollipop by Millie Small
