The 37-year-old actress revealed she’s ever been, saying of her ultimate idea of happiness: “Where I’m at right now I feel like this is really good, I’ve got all that under control.
“I’ve got doctors care, I’m feeling great, I got engaged,” she continued, speaking on Magic Radio this morning. “I’m in a very happy place.
“So I’m very happy and you know that’s it. I couldn’t ask for more really,” she added.
Reports emerged earlier this year claiming she was set to marry partner Jamie after he proposed with a £10,000 ring.
Sheridan, who plays a character with schizophrenia in Jo Brand’s new comedy drama, also talked about speaking out about her own mental health for the first time.
“I guess when you hide something for such a long time, and then people start speculating or saying horrible things about you and you’re trying to understand yourself,” she said.
“But also you know people are perceiving you in a certain way — it’s a process of being able to go, ‘What’s happening, why am I feeling like this?’ and then asking for help.
“I’m really hoping this film will trigger people.
“You know it’s not an embarrassing situation, it’s just an illness,” she said. “I think it’s just the words ‘mental health’ that make people scared.”
Speaking on BBC Breakfast this morning, Sheridan said she is “finally in a good place” after struggling with her mental health.
The star, who recently toured the UK with her debut album, said: “It’s taken me yeas to get to a place where I felt like I could own it and then say it.
“It was speculated that I was struggling.
“There were different doctors giving me medication but I’m finally in a good place,” she went on.
“It did take a massive ting to come out and actually say, ‘I”m struggling and I need help,’ so I understand that it’s hard for people.”
Revealing what helped her the most, she said: “Eventually, I opened up to family members and people could see as well that I was gradually declining and struggling.
“Eventually, after years of going on different medication and just being wrongly diagnosed, I’ve got the right doctor and I’m now in a great place.
“It’s perseverance but you do get there.”
Sheridan stars in The More You Ignore Me, a poignant comedy set in the 1980s and written by former psychiatric nurse Jo.
“It’s a very hot topic at the moment,” she added. “And I’m thrilled to be part of it.
“We have come a long way [but] I think we can go further.”
