Small business woes
DELIGHTED to see that Vince Cable has been hoist with his own petard by being fi ned £500 for not registering for VAT.
As Business Secretary, if he had any consideration whatsoever for small businesses, he would set about slashing through the forest of red tape that entraps us all. I have experience of this.
Though only a humble, self-employed hack tapping away at my keyboard I am considered to be a small business and a few months ago was sent some fatuous survey about the hours I work, number of days a week, staff employed (none) and so on. Pages and pages it went on.
If Vince Cable wasn’t such an arrogant know-itall he might try to do something about it.
I was also threatened with a fi ne of £2,500 if I didn’t return it by a certain date and so of course I did. As a waste of time and money it could scarcely be bettered and will this information ever be used for anything useful? Doubt it.
If Cable wasn’t such an arrogant know-itall he might try to do something about it. Then again pigs might fl y.
