Are motorists taxed to the hilt?
DRIVERS face having to pay motorway tolls to beat congestion despite already forking out £45billion a year in taxes, it has emerged.
Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly yesterday confirmed she is considering US-style tolls on designated motorway lanes to give drivers a quicker journey.
There were claims the toll lanes could cost as much as £5 a time but the Department for Transport said it had yet to consider what level they would be set at.
