Cat finds his way home
AFTER 33 years out of the limelight, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens will be pleased to hear that West End theatres are fighting it out to host his new musical.
Now known as Yusuf Islam, the 61-year-old is planning a series of concerts as well as his show, Moonshadow.
The production is particularly poignant for Yusuf, who had a lonely childhood growing up on London’s Shaftesbury Avenue, the heart of the West End.
Yusuf says: “Growing up in the West End surrounded by theatres left a strong impression on me. I originally wanted to be a composer, not a pop star.”
