Pub rockers call it a day after 37 years
COCKNEY warblers Chas & Dave have announced that they have split up. The popular duo, who have been playing their pub sing-song ditties since 1972, are no more after Dave Peacock, 64, decided to retire following the death of his wife Sue.
But lead singer and pianist Chas Hodges has vowed to keep ‘rabbiting’ under the new title of Chas And His Band. Speaking about the break-up, Chas, 65, said: “Obviously it’s sad. It’s the end of an era but the start of another one. I’ll be doing the old songs as well as new ones.
“I still see Dave every week and he’s coping but I don’t think he wanted to do the gigging any more.”
