Simm shines on West End stage
ACTOR John Simm’s time-travelling chums David Tennant and Philip Glenister turned up to support his West End performance in thriller Speaking In Tongues. Tennant was at the after-party at Jewel bar in Covent Garden with his 24-year-old girlfriend Georgia Moffett and raised a glass to John, with whom he has recently filmed his last episodes of Doctor Who.
Simm’s Life On Mars co-star Glenister was also there to cheer on his Northern pal, who told Day & Night he was really nervous: “I’ll feel better once tonight is out the way,” said John, 39. “It was hard to get used to the split-screen style and then once I’d learned the script, trying not to sound like I’m reading from a school play!”
Also at the bash was The Wire star Dominic West who was savouring being in the audience before going under the spotlight in a Spanish play called Life Is A Dream at the Donmar Warehouse in London next month.
“I’m only eating green salads, I have to watch my waistline!” purred Dominic, 39, shooing away a tempting canapé tray. Whatever would his alter ego, the hard-drinking Baltimore narcotics cop McNulty, say?
