Ashes to Ashes star Keeley Hawes will miss Philip Glenister's character Gene Hunt
AS ASHES To Ashes has its finale tonight , actress Keeley Hawes says she’ll miss the effect co-star Philip Glenister has on her when he struts around on set as no-nonsense cop Gene Hunt.
“Hunt has a strange effect on the ladies,” admits Keeley, 34, who plays ballsy policewoman Alex Drake in the popular time-shift programme.
“I actually have a secret Gene crush. All the ladies on set sit around going, ‘What is it?’ When Philip Glenister goes into character and starts shouting his head off, we all go ‘Oooooh!’ Women’s lib goes out the window. You just want him to come and save you.”
Glenister, 47, who has played straight‑talking Hunt since 2005, laments that he won’t be able to take his fan club with him: “They want to meet Gene Hunt, they don’t want to meet me.”
