Pope Benedict has a softer side
HE MAY be known as The Rottweiler but Pope Benedict is a pussycat at heart, insists Irish Eurovision winner Dana Scallon.
The 56-year-old – who performed for Pope Benedict’s pre-Mass concert at the Yankee Stadium in New York this month and also sang on several occasions for Pope John Paul II – insists that the no-nonsense German (pictured) is just misunderstood.
“Pope John Paul II was unique but I think Pope Benedict is a really wonderful man,” says former MEP Dana.
“He has this nickname The Rottweiler but in reality he’s charming, humble and a huge intellect. He loves people, and I think he’s winning everyone round.
“He’s definitely not a rottweiler. He listens to what people have to say, he says what he has to say, but he’s very gentle.”
