The Mercy singer, who cultivated a love of soul watching her dad’s videos of Sixties music show Ready Steady Go, was so enthralled by Mick Jagger that she wanted to be him.
“He’s sexy, charismatic, bluesy – he’s got it all,” she says.
“Even now. Jumpin’ Jack Flash was the first music I can remember, from a VHS that my dad had.
"And, of course, no one told me, as a six year old, that they weren’t current.
"I thought I’d found the most important thing in music – some obscure band nobody knew.”
