Lucy dishes the dirt on tidiness
IT was the TV show that provided Stepford Wife-style household cleaning tips but the writer of the series Anthea Turner - Perfect Housewife has admitted she is a domestic wreck.
Stand-up comedienne Lucy Porter, who wrote the voiceover for Anthea’s programme, recalls sitting at her laptop in her “filthy, tat-filled flat”, penning household hints such as, “Remember that DVDs are not ornaments – tidy everything away”, then glancing at her festering collection of unwashed cups.
She recalls that her untidiest period was when she shared a house with a person who had attention deficit disorder.
“Neither of us would wash up,” admits Lucy, soon to be seen with her show The Bare Necessities at the Edinburgh Festival.
“You would be eating your cornflakes out of a teapot and saying, ‘Look, we really need to wash up.’”
