The Last Station: DVD review
THE last days of Leo Tolstoy form the basis of a boisterous hugely appealing celebration of life and the way that love endures when all else has faded.
Christopher Plummer plays the great man with warm hearted restraint and Helen Mirren excels as a wife struggling to protect her husband's legacy from the circling vultures.
Both actors were Oscar nominated for their performances and are ably supported by James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff.
VERDICT 4/5
