Avengers: Heimdall star Idris Elba doesn't know what MCU is ‘I've NEVER heard that before’
AVENGERS INFINITY WAR and Thor star Idris Elba, who plays Heimdall, has revealed he didn’t know what the MCU was.
Avengers Infinity War: Teaser ahead of DVD release
The James Bond favourite has appeared as Heimdall in three Thor movies and two Avengers films to date.
However when MCU, the official acronym for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was brought up in a recent interview, Elba hadn’t heard of it.
Speaking with Yahoo! Movies, the 45-year-old asked: “What’s MCU?”.
“Oh right, I have never heard that before! I thought it was Manchester United…but don’t worry about it.”
Elba last appeared as Heimdall in the opening scene of Avengers Infinity War where his character kicked the bucket.
And across his five movie stint as the Asgardian, he’s revealed he found shooting some of them “torture”.
However he really enjoyed doing Thor Ragnarok with Taika Waititi.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Elba said: “I like that I have a little part in Thor.”
He continued: “I’m neither movie star or day player. It allows me to do other things I love.
“The last one [Ragnarok] was fun. The others weren’t fun. They’re work. But on this one, Taika was great.”
“I wish I was more present in the Marvel family.
“I like what I have, but I also wish that I had a bigger character in the Marvel universe.”
He added: “It’s been great, but I kinda think I need a bit more.
“I want to be a superhero. I like the idea of that.”
Nevertheless now that Heimdall’s dead, it’s going to be very hard for his character to return.
That is unless he’s resurrected or appears in time travel scenes in next year’s Avengers 4.
