X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX star Sophie Turner has opened up about some behind-the-scenes friction on the set of the upcoming movie.

The Game of Thrones favourite takes the lead in the upcoming blockbuster, which finally hits cinemas this summer. Speaking in a new interview, she recalled an incident that saw her confronting one male co-star who would keep walking off-set whenever he had lines with her; meaning a writer would have to stand in. It seems it was another co-star, Jessica Chastain, who gave Turner the courage to talk to him about the disrespectful behaviour.
She told Glamour: “I’ve gone through some lows in my life and I want to come out of them in a positive way and help people.
“I actually have a really big problem with not being able to stand up for myself. Especially if I’m arguing against a man.
“Jessica Chastain is the one that said it to me, ‘You need to stand up for yourself more!’”
Of the problem with the unnamed actor, she added: “She [Jessica] said, ‘Just go and talk to him, go and say something to him!’
“I’m a bit of a shy, pushover person, but I’m getting there, I’m working on it.”
X-Men: Dark Phoenix will finally find its way to cinemas in June after multiple delays.
Turner plays Jean Grey - the titular Phoenix - while Chastain plays a combination of different comic characters including Mastermind.
Other stars on board include James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Evan Peters.
Initial leaked reactions have been consistently negative, though it’s hoped that the delays have allowed time for problems to be fixed.
It’s also releasing during a crowded summer for blockbusters: it’ll be less than two months after Avengers: Endgame, and weeks after the unexpectedly exciting Detective Pikachu.
It’s unknown where the X-Men franchise will go after this - given that Disney and Marvel Studios have recently acquired he rights to the characters.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is out on June 7.
