The Marvel blockbuster - officially a box office multiple-record-breaker - brings to a culmination an eleven-year story that began with 2008’s Iron Man.
Over the years, multiple characters have been added to the mix - including the massively popular Guardians of the Galaxy.
They became key players in the wider MCU roster via the most recent Avengers films; Infinity War and Endgame.
But one member, Rocket the Raccoon, provided a very unique challenge to the film-makers Anthony and Joe Russo: the fact he is significantly smaller than the others.
That's why Rocket is almost always standing on something like a chair or a table in group shots, so he is closer to the height of the others around him.
The directors were asked about the filming trick by the BBC. “That’s a great point,” Anthony said.
“When you’re dealing with characters of radically different sizes, it presents a lot of framing challenges.
“You start to learn tricks in blocking [staging] to keep everyone in the same relative plane, so you can actually shoot them.”
Bradley Cooper voices the character, with Sean Gunn the stand-in for acting and expressions used for motion reference.
Speaking of the process of finding the voice, Cooper previously told BBC Radio 1: “I had to try to find it. And I had this idea.
“At first, I was literally just doing Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York, and that didn’t’ really work.
“We saw this sort of animatronic thing as I was doing it, and then it became like a hybrid of Daniel Plainview and Gilbert Gottfried.
“That’s where we wound up. That’s how I would describe Rocket’s inspiration.”
Rocket will presumably next be seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, which goes into production in 2021.
Meanwhile Avengers: Endgame is on track to be one of the biggest films of all time, after breaking all-time records in its opening weekend thanks to its $1.2 billion global bow.
