Tom Hanks takes on Geppetto in new Disney Plus film Pinocchio
Pinocchio might be the most wooden of performers but even Oscar-winners are happy to star opposite him.
Tom Hanks stars in Pinocchio 2022
Hollywood A-lister Tom Hanks, 66, plays carpenter Geppetto, who creates the puppet that dreams of becoming a real boy, in a new TV version of the tale.
The classic story first hit screens in a 1940 Disney cartoon.
This time Pinocchio, voiced by Briton Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, 13, has no strings attached as he, and the strings, are computer-generated.
Luke Evans, 43, who plays The Coachman, said: “The storyline is very, very similar.”
So let’s hope that’s true. Everyone nose what will happen if it isn’t.
- Pinocchio is on Disney+ from September 8.
