Mission Impossible 6 Fallout director reveals REAL REASON Jeremy Renner isn’t in this one
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 6 Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie has revealed Jeremy Renner didn’t appear because of his Avengers 4 commitment and more.
He's back! Tom Cruise returns in Mission Impossible: Fall Out
The 47-year-old starred in the last two Mission Impossible movies, Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, but sadly missed out on a part in Fallout.
Fans have been wondering why his IMF agent William Brandt was left out and director McQuarrie has revealed why.
Speaking with Digital Spy, the filmmaker and screenwriter of Rogue Nation and Fallout said: “At the time, when the movie started, we didn't really have a screenplay.
“So it was very difficult for us to say who would be in the movie for how long and on what days, and he had a commitment to Marvel.”
While Renner didn’t feature in Avengers Infinity War, he is set to have a bigger role in next year’s Avengers 4 which is presumably what McQuarrie is referencing.
The director continued: “So there was just simply no predicting.
“If we had a finished script, we would have been able to say, ‘Yes, this will work and we can let you go for this time’, but there was just no predicting what those roles were going to turn out to be.
“It was just an unfortunate case of bad timing.”
It’s a shame Renner couldn’t return for Fallout, but if there’s a Mission Impossible 7, it’s very easy for him to return.
After all, series regular Ving Rhames only had a cameo at the end of Ghost Protocol but is now back as a major character.
In fact Benji Dunn star Simon Pegg has spoken out on the likelihood of another Tom Cruise sequel.
Speaking with CinePOP, he said: “[The franchise] shows no signs of slowing down.
“I imagine that at some we'll be doing mad things again, so, yeah... never say never.”
It’s been just three years since Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation hit cinemas, which was the shortest time in between films in the franchise to date.
Mission Impossible – Fallout is released in UK cinemas on July 25, 2018.
