Album review: Merle Haggard: The Peer Sessions (eOne)
COUNTRY fans have no doubt been biting each other in the frenzy to get their hands on this import where Merle gives a good airing to some classic early country.
Going back to the Ralph Peer catalogue, which goes way back to the Twenties, his delivery is simple and relaxed.
Haggard’s is the true voice of country while songs such as Peach Pickin’ Time In Georgia are a reminder of how fine country can be when all the nonsense is stripped away.
Verdict: 3/5
