Adele SNUBBED by the Ivor Novellos as Ed Sheeran & Jamie Lawson battle for Best Song
ED SHEERAN and Jamie Lawson are both nominated for Best Song at the Ivor Novellos Awards but there are NO nominations for Adele in any category. Jess Glynne, James Bay and Years & Years also receive nominations.
No nominations for Adele this year but Ed Sheeran is up for Best Song
The Ivor Novellos are one of the most prestigious awards in the music industry because they are voted for by songwriters and composers.
In 2012 Adele won twice – for Songwriter of the Year and Most Performed Song for Rolling In The Deep. This year she is conspicuously absent from the nominations, despite smashing records worldwide with her third album 25.
There is still hope, however, as other awards, like Songwriter of the Year aren't announced until the actual ceremony in May.
Sheeran has been nominated for Best Song for his track Bloodstream with Rudimental and will take on Lawson's Wasn't Expecting That.
Famously, Lawson was the first artist to be signed to Sheeran's new label, Gingerbread Man Record, in March last year and his self-titled album hit No1 in the UK charts in October.
He was understandably very happy at hearing the news this morning and tweeted: "This is pretty amazing. To say the least. Very chuffed."

Wolf Alice's Bros is the third nomination in the Best Song Category.
Other big British names up for awards include Jess Glynne, Years & Years and James Bay. All three will be duking it out in the catchily-named category PRS for Music Most Performed Work.
Grime Artist Skepta recives his first nomination for Best Contemporary Song, while BBC dramas London Spy and Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None will seek to bury each other for Best Television Soundtrack.
The winners will be announced along with the Songwriter of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, International Achievement and Ivors Inspiration Awards at the main ceremony on May 19 at Grosvenor House in London.
