Virgin’s worries over BA merger
VIRGIN ATLANTIC may be forced into a merger if British Airways succeeds in its tie-up with American Airlines, says Sir Richard Branson.
He added that the airline might struggle to compete against much larger rivals.
Virgin announced it was too soon to say who possible merger partners may be, although analysts tipped a tie-up with an Asian airline.
Cass Business School researcher Scott Moeller said: “I think it would be unlikely that Virgin would pair up with a flagship carrier like Lufthansa or SAS.”
