Sales see Diageo spirits rise
DRINKERS in up-and-coming economies gave an extra fizz to sales at spirits maker Diageo.
Diageo, whose Captain Morgan rum is promoted by Hollywood star Mena Suvari, said Johnnie Walker and Scotch labels White Horse and Vat 69 were going down well in Russia and emerging markets in Asia.
The group’s brands, which also include Smirnoff vodka and Guinness, also achieved strong double digit growth in Latin America and the Caribbean. UK sales rose 5 per cent and in the rest of Europe by 6 per cent, helped by a strong recovery in Spain. Overall group sales in the three months to September 30 lifted 9 per cent.
