Women-owned businesses safe bet in recession
WOMEN-owned businesses are in better shape to weather the recession because they take fewer risks, are carrying less debt and rate people as important as profits, according to new research out today.
But a survey from women’s enterprise advice network Prowess found that female entrepreneurs are still saying they are facing desperate times because of the lack of credit to secure overdraft renewals or development loans.
Prowess is calling on the government to design special support programmes, as it is doing for the car industry, for firms run by women entrepreneurs and open more business centres like the Her Business one in Newham, east London.
This flagship provides specifically-tailored help on matters like employment, starting a venture, education and training. www.prowess.org.uk, www.herbusiness.co.uk
