World's oldest man celebrates 113 years with a party
THE world's-oldest-man has celebrated his 113th birthday with a party at his retirement home.
Walter Breuning gave a brief talk, blew out candles, shared cake and met guests at yesterday's invitation-only bash at the Rainbow Retirement Community in Great Falls, Montana.
In a poignant speech, the 113-year-old told guests: "Remember that life's length is not measured by its hours and days, but by that which we have done therein.
"A useless life is short if it lasts a century."
Mr Breuning said his long life was the result of eating well and keeping mentally and physically active.
He also said he takes one aspirin a day.
During the celebrations he was presented with several awards for reaching the milestone, including a $10,000 check from Scottish Rite Temple members.
Walter kindly donated the money to the Childhood Language Disorder Clinic in Great Falls.
Mr Breuning moved to Montana in 1918, where he spent 50 years working on the railroad. He retired in 1963.
