Wogan's Radio Fans Fade Away
VETERAN radio presenter Terry Wogan lost 357,000 radio listeners in the first six months of the year.
But his BBC Radio 2 show, Wake Up To Wogan, remains the most popular breakfast show in Britain, with over 8million tuning in each day.
Chris Moyles, the self-styled “saviour of Radio 1”, lost far more listeners than Sir Terry, 69, – over half a million stopped tuning in to his breakfast show in the same period.
But a spokeswoman for the station said: “We’re not concerned at all. Up until these latest figures, Chris Moyles’s ratings were going up and up.”
Radio 2 remains the UK’s favourite station, with around 13million listeners a day, according to the survey of all major radio stations by independent monitoring service RAJAR.
Radio 5 Live improved its ratings to 6million while Radio 3 also attracted more, with nearly 2million listeners every day.
