The vehicle recycling service Scrap Car Comparison has shared the car brands that motorists wash the most regularly.

Whilst few drivers actively enjoy spending their free time washing their vehicle, the company found that 60 percent of motorists admit to feeling ashamed about giving loved ones a lift in a dirty car.

David Kottaun, Operations Manager at Scrap Car Comparison, warned drivers that making sure their vehicle is clean can help them to avoid damage.

He explained: "Washing your car regularly can seem like an unnecessary chore, but it's much better to give your car quick washes fairly frequently, than leave yourself faced with a horrendously grubby motor to wash months down the line.

"There's nothing worse than starting to clean your car, only to find all sorts of plant life growing along the window seals, and insects in resident in the door mirrors or under the numberplate, not to mention realising that your paintwork has been damaged because of the grime."

According to Scrap Car Comparison's study, which featured the views of 1,000 drivers from across the UK, Tesla owners wash their vehicle the most.

In particular, the average Tesla driver washes their car 130 times per year, with a staggering 27 percent cleaning theirs every day.

One of the most significant reasons why so many Tesla owners keep their vehicles clean is due to their premium prices, with the Model 3 range starting at £39,990.
