We all know the dangers of driving in the pouring rain.

If you've been driving in the UK for any length of time, you'll likely have been caught in some unpredictable weather. One minute you're enjoying the sunshine, and the next it's started chucking it down with rain.

Driving when it's wet is hazardous. We all know that we should slow down and be more vigilant of what’s happening around us, as it’s often harder to see and cars can skid when you slam on the brakes.

But what about that annoying moment when your car windscreen fogs up?

The common occurrence in the rain is caused by condensation that forms when the inside of your car is warmer than the outside, and it can impair your vision when you're on the road so should be cleaned off immediately.

Thankfully though, there's an easy way to get rid of it and make sure it never comes back - all with the press of a button.

In a YouTube Shorts video shared by @automartkm, it was revealed that your car should have a button that allows you to defog your windscreen just by using your car's air conditioning.

The poster shared that if you use towels or just your hand to wipe at the condensation on your windscreen, you'll notice that it comes back in just a few minutes, as it doesn't solve the heat imbalances in your vehicle.

Instead, you should turn on your car's air conditioner and use a special setting that clears the glass in seconds.

A voiceover in the clip advised: "Instead, we just need to turn on the air conditioner. Turn on the front windshield defogging switch, and after a while, all the fog on the glass will disappear."

You'll find the essential switch in your vehicle on the control knob for the air conditioning system.

This little-known button not only adjusts the airflow to your feet or face but also features a setting depicted by wavy lines within a rectangle - that's the one you need to select.

Some viewers of the video remarked that the tip was "obvious" to them, and indeed, for many experienced drivers, it might be. However, for those new to driving or unfamiliar with their vehicle's more subtle features, the guidance was a welcome revelation.

One grateful individual commented: "Thank you, you are my saviour!".

While another viewer suggested using the heater instead of the air conditioner, a different user countered, arguing that cold air is superior for "fast defogging".
