I made a cinnamon sugar mug cake in under 5 minutes and it was divine - recipe
Mug cakes are a quick and easy way to satisfy a sweet tooth without going to any effort. I recently followed a cinnamon sugar mug cake recipe and it was divine.
Mug cakes have been popular for many years, but it can be hard to find a reliable recipe with great results every time.
The individual-sized puddings are made by mixing the ingredients of a regular cake into a mug before letting it cook in the microwave.
There are many recipes online, and after trying out a few, I stumbled across a cinnamon sugar mug cake by BBC Good Food and Myriad Recipes.
It has quickly become my favourite quick and easy sweet treat, ready from start to finish in under five minutes.
The first step is to grab a decent-sized mug, taking into account that the batter will rise in the microwave.
Ingredients:
For the cake:
Two tablespoons of plain flour
Two tablespoons of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
One teaspoon of cinnamon
Three tablespoons of milk
Two tablespoons of oil
Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
For the topping:
One teaspoon sugar
One teaspoon cinnamon

Method:
Start by combining the plain flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, oil and vanilla extract into the mug before giving it a mix with a fork.
Once the batter is combined, place it in the microwave for 70 seconds and it should be spongey and fully cooked.
I have tried cooking this various times and on full heat and around 60 to 70 seconds is the ideal time.
Once cooked, remove the mug from the microwave and combine one teaspoon of sugar with one teaspoon of cinnamon.
Sprinkle this on top of the mug cake for a gorgeous crunch when you bite into the mug cake.
The microwave mug cake can also be served with ice cream or custard in the winter months.
Jamie Oliver also recently shared his mug cake recipe which he said is great for children when they want a sweet treat.
The chef’s mug cake only uses five ingredients, including a small banana, self-raising flour, olive oil, dark sugar and one egg.
Speaking on TikTok, Jamie noted: “I’m going to give you my delicious mug cake recipe that does work, that’s amazing.
“The basis of a recipe is brilliant, and you can kind of flex it to do different things at different times of the year.”
