Coming across scary bugs is probably one of a gardener’s worst fears, especially when the critter is poisonous and poses an immediate danger.
That nightmare became reality for one gardener, who came face to face with a brown recluse, one of three spiders in North America with dangerous venom - the others being the black widow and the Chilean recluse.
The encounter happened after the gardener, who goes by the Reddit username Cantorgreen, went to fetch his gloves, which alerted the spider, who came running out of one of the gloves.
Taking to the r/gardenning forum, the online user shared his useful tip to store his gloves out of critters’ reach.
"Gardener tip: store your gloves in an air-tight container to keep bugs from snuggling in," they began.
The Texas-based gardening enthusiast admitted they rarely wear gloves while gardening due to arachnophobia.
So their solution to avoiding these bugs was storing their gardening gloves in an airtight container, which they even showcased in their post.
"I rarely put on gloves while gardening because I'm afraid of spiders (I live in Texas). This is a great idea," said one Redditor.
"I'm from Texas. I started containing my gloves after an encounter with a brown recluse," the poster replied.
"But I'm big on wearing gloves because I think it's important to protect my hands."

"I used to work for engineering companies who did a lot of work in refineries in Louisiana," commented another user.
"Our safety guy taught us to always take your gloves and whap them really hard against the wall or another hard object to kill anything that might have crawled inside.
"Black widows are a big problem there, and they like the warm little hiding places against pipes and the banks that have to be heated to do whatever process is happening there.
"He claims to have had several employees lose fingers to brown recluse bites or Black Widow bites over the years because they didn't listen. I always do it, even at home."
