Staying in shape can seem like an impossible task, especially the older we get. As we age our bodies are no longer as strong as they once were and we tire more easily.

But regular exercise is still vital, with the NHS recommending at least 150 minutes a week to stay fit and healthy.

This doesn’t have to be particularly high intensity though, with any form of exercise better than none.

You also don’t need an expensive gym membership or fancy equipment to be able to workout.

One fitness expert revealed a simple five-minute routine for over 60s to try at home.

Fitness influencer Fiona Lambert took to social media platform TikTok to demonstrate her five-step kitchen routine.

Rather than relying on equipment she actually utilised her kitchen counter as a prop for some of the moves.

The first step is to perform 20 mountain climbers. She carried these out with her hands placed on top of the counter for support.

Then she moved on to 10 diamond press ups. To start this move you form a diamond shape in the gap between your hands when you bring them together and place them on top of the counter.

Fiona then did 20 spiderman planks. In the same position as for the diamond press ups she brought one leg up to the side at a time.

No longer using the kitchen counter she then performed 20 squats and front kicks.

To finish she jogged on the spot bringing her knees up high for 30 seconds.
