Coin enthusiasts are getting excited about the UK's rarest 50p.

Notably, some gems are worth a lot of money and just recently we've seen a manner of pieces sell for a fortune. A rare 1p coin fetched £120,000 at auction. The 1933 predecimal penny from the UK is so popular among collectors.

And experts suggest you rummage through your grandad's old coin collection in case it winds up there. But you'll need to keep an eye out for the date.

Now there's another coin that's getting loads of attention. TikTok sensation @coincollectorukoriginal, with a legion of 121,000 followers, recently unveiled the Atlantic Salmon featuring King Charles III.

It was released into circulation just in November last year. These half-pound sterling coins are fetching quite the pretty penny already, with one catching a cool £153 on eBay of late.

The coin collector stumbled upon this gem in his huge collection. An excited voiceover can be heard: "This may turn out to be one of the rarest coins I've ever found. Rumoured to be only 500,000 made."

Following that, another enthusiast chimed in: "Lovely, very nice design as well. Will definitely be keeping that one on the side."

This aquatic-themed specimen has been hailed by virtual vendor Copes Coins as among the "most talked about in the coin community".

Coin Hunter revealed the sought-after 50p coin wasn't struck for circulation, which means it might be a rare find in your spare change. The coin is up for grabs in Brilliant Uncirculated quality for collectors keen to snap it up.

With the coin being a fresh release, it's still up in the air whether it will make its way into general circulation, as per the site's details.

The video showcasing the coin has since gone viral, racking up 300 likes and several comments from envious viewers. One user exclaimed: "Bro you are so lucky," while another shared: "I found the King one on my bedroom floor."

A third admirer commented with enthusiasm: "Nice find."
