'I breastfeed my husband... it feels great and my hubby enjoys it - should we stop?'

A mum had weaned her baby off her breasts, but the milk kept coming in, so she now breastfeeds her husband.

Due to the build-up of milk in her breasts, the mum – who would rather not be named – said the pressure in her breasts "hurt".

"Frankly, I felt terrible just pumping and wasting the milk," she wrote on the social media platform Reddit.

"I know my husband had always been interested in my breast milk... I figured it wouldn't hurt to let him suck some out and satisfy his curiosity..."

Candidly, she said "it felt great" for her, and that her husband was "happy and enjoyed it".

Dubbed the "nurturing wife", she wrote: "Apparently, he liked the taste. Within the day, he asked to try again. I obliged.

"I realised I was just emptying my breasts which would mean more milk production.

"But it was very relieving and I felt like the milk was being put to better use than throwing it out."

Her husband breastfeeding from her breasts continued the "next day, and the next and so on".

The stay-at-home mum said her husband can breastfeed multiple times per day because he works from home.

"He's happy to bury his face in my breasts and drink the milk," she said. "He enjoys the taste of it."

She elaborated: "It also felt great for me because it felt like I was giving him something really nutritious to eat; that I was providing for him, just like he provides for me – it's a partnership."

The breastfeeding has been "going on for a few months" and her breasts are continuing to produce more and more milk.

"My question is, is this unhealthy for either of us? Should we reduce or stop this?" she asked the Reddit community.

She continued: "I can't find any concrete health reasons, but I know this isn't 'natural' or normal. So, I'd love insight."

One commentator stated: "This is more common than you think. I've had many women tell me their husbands enjoy their breastmilk and they enjoy providing them with it."

Another said it's "kind of weird... but fine", while somebody else said she'd be better off donating her milk to a breast milk bank instead for mothers who struggle to breastfeed.

Someone else posted: "My wife would absolutely crawl out of her skin in disgust if she read this. I had a little curiosity about tasting her breast milk shortly before (and to a lesser extent after) the birth of our first kid, and she was totally grossed out by the idea."
