HOME RENOVATION show, Changing Rooms, returned to the screen this evening - with one homeowner hoping the new revamp would feature "animal prints" and "something wild".

The show was aired on Channel 4 for the first time, following a 17-year hiatus. Interior designer, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, who starred in the original series on BBC, was joined by Anna Richardson, a new presenter on the programme. The DIY show sees two homeowners take on a dramatic renovation of a room in each other’s property – completing the revamp in just two days.
Three new faces on the show were designers Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead, plus carpenter Tibby Singh.
The first episode of the series took place at two properties in Swansea, South Wales.
The homeowners, Lisa and Clare, lived across the street from one another, and had been friends for 25 years.
Laurence joined postmaster Lisa and her daughter, Kirsty, to revamp a lounge.

Laurence chose an Indian-inspired theme and named the project ‘For Ever Peacocky’, a design which incorporated the colours of a peacock.
“I’m going to one specific place for inspiration, because if it’s one country that knows how to peacock, it’s India,” he said.
“This is an interesting space and it’s something I think we can have a lot of fun with spatially,” added Laurence. “I know she does a lot of entertaining so it has to be a very flexible space.”
Due to the homeowner’s love for entertaining friends at her house, Laurence said it was important that the design was ‘cocktailicious’.

The homeowner had emphasised that she wasn’t keen on the colour pink, so there was concern on the friend’s face when Laurence opened a can of ‘flamingo pink’ paint.
He also chose a blue and green paint, which he said was inspired by a peacock’s feathers.
Sharing his vision behind the colour theme, Laurence said there was a popular movement in the interior design world at the moment called ‘maximalism.’
Responding to the choice in colours, Lisa said: “I love these colours but whether she’s going to like the colours, I don’t know.”

On the other team, designers Jordan and Russell were joined by Clare, whose room was being renovated, and her friend, Jo.
They had been tasked with revamping a bedroom.
“Everything is quite flat and dull,” said the designers, adding that they wanted to revitalise the room so it oozed ‘glamour’ and incorporated a drag theme.
Laurence chose concentric panels to highlight the feature walls – which were painted green and blue.
Referring to his peacock-inspired theme, he said: “The colour moves across the feather.”
Laurence is known for his flamboyant dress sense and did not disappoint viewers with his leather trousers and matching jacket.
The show had originally been broadcast on BBC, which ran from 1996 to 2004.
The next episode will air on Channel 4 on Wednesday August 25.
