‘No flies this year!’ Simple 75p herb hack to get rid of blue bottle flies from your home
CLEANING enthusiasts have shared a simple herb hack for getting rid of blue bottle flies from homes. One Mrs Hinch fan claimed she had "no flies this year" after using the handy 75p hack.

Blue bottle flies can be a real nuisance, making food preparation and alfresco dining a challenge. Now, fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have shared their simple tip for keeping blue bottle flies at bay. Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, is a cleaning influencer with more than 4.5 million followers on Instagram.
Fans of hers have taken to social media groups in recent years to share their own cleaning solutions, including how to oust flies and other pests.
On one such group, Facebook user Angela McCarthy Price asked Mrs Hinch fans: “Any ideas on how to deter blue bottle flies in my house?
“I absolutely hate them buzzing around especially if eating or preparing food? Thank you.”
The most common suggestion was to use herbs like basil.
Stan Theman said: “I’ve used a basil plant from Aldi and no flies this year.”

Kirsty Smith replied: “Basil or mint plants by windows and doors.”
Jacquie Gardner agreed and wrote: “Same here, I've got one of each near front windows and in the conservatory.
“No flies in my house this year!”
