Lynsey Crombie shares top hacks to speed up tumble drying
As the season turns colder the cost of energy bills continues to rise, pushing more Britons to look for new ways to reduce their monthly electricity usage. While it's easy enough to pop clothes on the line to dry in the summer, during the winter many people typically turn to their tumble dryer.
However, recent research from Which? has found that a tumble dryer can add anywhere from £25 to £121 a year onto your energy bill.
TikTok user Ann Russell (@Annrussell03), who has amassed a following of 2.1m, shared a simple yet effective way to dry your clothes while saving money.
In a video, Ann shared her simple "tips" on "how to dry laundry over the cold weather".
She explained that all you need is "a fan" and a regular drying rack.

In the viral video, Ann said: "A fan. Not a fan heater. A fan [which] blows cold air and a rack.
"[I] put my washing on the rack and I put my wind and it's beautiful.
"It doesn't cost a great deal of money."
A normal fan, which blows cold air, is cheaper than a heated fan which makes the room warmer.

However, Britons should take precautions to avoid mould and fungus growth in the home when drying their clothes.
Experts from Homecure Plumbers have warned that hanging wet clothes indoors is one of the most common reasons people experience condensation and mould issues in the home.
Ensuring the space is well-ventilated during the winter months will help to eliminate this risk.
Ann added: "Leave your windows cracked so that the moist air that rises will go out and then you're good to go. It works really well."
Where is the best place to place a drying rack in the home?
Laundry should take no more than 24 hours to dry on a rack in the home, any longer than this and your belongings could become susceptible to mould growth and begin to smell musty.
Laurence Smith, cleaning expert at In The Wash recommended avoiding hanging your clothes in rooms which are already susceptible to damp.
He explained: "Avoid drying laundry in the bathroom as it’s already a damp space and you don’t want to add more humidity to the air. Plus, clothes will take longer to dry in an already-damp room.
"If you have a dedicated laundry room, a spare room or garage, this is the best place to dry your clothes.
"Use a drying rack and place it in a room that you use infrequently, such as a laundry room, spare room or even dining room."
