Clean your TV remote using 'effective' toiletry item you likely have at home
TV remotes can sometimes get quite dirty and stop working properly. Luckily, you can use a simple cleaning method to get yours looking brand new again.
Cleaning your TV remote takes no time and can even make it function better, so it’s important to use the right technique.
All you need is a cloth and some isopropyl alcohol - or the classic soap and water mixture works just as well.
It’s important to remove your remote's batteries before starting the clean, just to be safe.
Be careful when dealing with water near electronics, and ensure your remote is completely powered off before cleaning. Allow it to dry thoroughly before powering it back up.
Begin by switching off the TV and removing the batteries from your remote, if applicable.

Dampen your cloth with isopropyl alcohol or a mixture of soap and warm water. While a microfibre cloth is optimal, any cloth will suffice.
Although alcohol is generally more effective, soap and water can still be used, but ensure minimal water usage.
Prioritise thorough drying before reinserting batteries and operating your remote.
After removing the batteries, you can wipe down the remote. While you don't need to worry about being overly gentle without the batteries in, avoid scrubbing too vigorously.

Pay particular attention to any sticky buttons, giving them extra care, and don't hesitate to apply isopropyl alcohol generously for cleaning.
Next, dry your remote thoroughly. A dry cloth, or a dry section of the cloth used previously, works well for this purpose. Alternatively, if available, compressed air can effectively dry electronic devices.
For any sticky buttons, using compressed air is a great method to clear out any residual water or alcohol from deep crevices.
While alcohol typically evaporates quickly on its own, it's advisable to ensure thorough drying.
Once your remote is completely dry, reinsert the batteries.
