Easy air fryer cleaning hack ‘works wonders’ to remove grease and grime in minutes
If you use your air fryer regularly, it can be hard to keep clean due to all the nooks and crannies. To help, cleaning enthusiasts have shared their top cleaning hacks online.
Although air fryers don’t require any oil to use, grease from food can end up making the appliance dirty.
If this is not regularly cleaned, the build-up of grease and oil can form sludge on the air fryer pans or in the bottom of the dish.
Taking to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page online, Trish Davidson said: “My air fryer is so dirty.
“I use liners for some items but often just shove the food in there to cook. I’ve tried washing up liquid but it hasn’t worked, does anyone recommend anything else?”
Many of the group members who also had air fryers responded to the comment, with lots of people recommending dishwasher tablets.

Magella Rourke commented: “I soaked mine overnight with hot water and a dishwasher tablet.
“Then gave it a good scrub after using Elbow Grease. Mine is a glass one, it’s ideal.”
Elizabeth Davis wrote: “While you think soaking should work, it often doesn’t, you need to take it up a notch and use something like a dishwasher tablet.
“Using a dishwasher tablet with some hot water works wonders to remove grease and grime.”

Avril Scott added: “Dishwasher tablets are great to get rid of grease, I use them to clean pots and pans as well as stained dishes too.”
When carrying out this cleaning hack, make sure to use the tablets which come in a hard form, rather than pods.
Dishwasher tablets can be picked up from all supermarkets for as little as £4 for 30 tablets.
Simply put hot water into the air fryer basket along with the dishwasher tablet and leave it to work for just 10 minutes.
If scrubbing is required, lightly scrub the stubborn marks before rinsing under clean water and drying.
Baking soda and water can also be made into a paste and placed on any stubborn grease stains.
Whilst air fryer baskets and attachments can often be placed in the dishwasher, this is usually advised as it can wear them quickly.
