Some Brits are ditching using wall plugs and extension cables for a powerful desktop charger - and it allows them to charge up to four devices at the same time.

The Acefast Z4 218W charger, which is on offer on Amazon for £75.99, has three USB-C and one USB-A ports so you can charge your phone, tablet, laptop and smart watch at once. The charger also comes with a digital screen to show the power status and working mode of each port.

Shoppers who bought the Z4 charger said they can get rid of chunky adapters and bulky sockets and free up space for their home office. With two ports providing a maximum of 100W, it's powerful enough to charge laptops (it only takes 1.5 hours to fully charge the 16-inch MacBook Pro), the 1.3-inch screen also gives you a reading of the actual watts and voltage each port is delivering, plus its maximum capacity.

On Amazon, the Acefast Z4 charger has received a high 4.7 out of 5 score, with shoppers praising its impressive performance. One said: "Very similar to another one I bought recently but this you can turn off the display with a couple of clicks. This one now goes in the bedroom and moved the other one downstairs. Quick charging and little power draw once charged, crazy quick on Macbook Pro."

One Amazon Vine customer shared: "Got this desktop one as a replacement for a wall plug that had suddenly stopped working. It's a premium price, however, the build quality is excellent. It's reassuring heavy, which is something I look for in these chargers (the ones that feel paper-light worry me greatly).

"Hooked up a Huawei Matebook 13 and a Surface Go 2. The geek in me was fascinated by the display showing the actual power draw from the device. Similarly, plugging in a Samsung mobile phone shows 18W on display of the unit and 'super fast charging' on the phone itself."

A third gave a 5-star rating and explained: "Charged my laptop, tablet, and phone (with super-fast charging!) without breaking a sweat. While the price might seem steep, it's likely to outlast several cheaper chargers, making it a wise investment for those who want a reliable and powerful charging solution."

But one said he wanted more charging modes as there are only four pre-set programmes to choose from. The pre-set programmes are: 100W + 65W + 30W + 18W/ 65W + 65W + 65W + 18W/ 100W + 100W + 18W/ 100W + 100W + 18W.

If you need more ports, this Mavicen charger block has seven outlets including four USB-C and three USB-A ports, it doesn't come with a power display but it's retailed at a cheaper price of £59.99.

UGreen has a wall charger plug with three USB-C ports and one USB-A port that gives a maximum output of 65W but it's on a limited time deal with prices dropped from £39.99 to £26.99. Argos also sells a number of powerbanks.
