Former American President Bill Clinton officially joins Twitter
FORMER American President Bill Clinton officially joined Twitter last night.
The 66-year-old politician started tweeting after being persuaded to join by his daughter Chelsea and American comedian Stephen Colbert.
The funny man set up a Twitter account for Mr Clinton when he appeared on his show The Colbert Report, but the 42nd US President was initially skeptical.
However, after deliberation he changed his tune as One of his first tweets said: "Excited to join @ChelseaClinton and my good friend @StephenAtHome on Twitter!"
Mr Clinton followed up the initial tweet with a few more messages, one of which about World Malaria Day, and then his account was verified.
He so far has amassed almost 400,000 followers.
Mr Clinton follows in the footsteps of current President Barack Obama, who is a big user of the site with over 30 million followers.
Mr Clinton is posting on the micro blogging site under the handler @billclinton.
