Royal tiara: Which is the most expensive royal tiara in the Queen's collection?
QUEEN ELIZABETH II has possession of an enviable number of pricey gems, but which royal tiara is the most expensive in the Queen's collection?
Meghan Markle's wedding tiara: Queen Mary's Bandeau
The Queen usually lends a tiara from her collection to members of her family on their wedding days. The Queen’s royal collection of gems is extensive, and has been accruing over the course of many generations of royals. While all the tiaras in the Queen’s collection are exquisite, one tiara is known to be much more expensive than any of the other pieces in the collection.
According to Deborah Papas, gemologist and jewellery expert, one of the Queen’s tiara stands out above all the rest for its high value.
The Greville emerald tiara was handmade by Parisian jewellery house Boucheron in 1919.
The stunning style features a 93.70 carat cabochon-cut emerald in the centre.
The frame is made of platinum, and features five more emeralds and diamonds.

Mrs Greville, a close friend of the Royal Family and the Queen Mother, left her entire jewellery collection to Queen Elizabeth when she died.
Due to its high quality and abundance of precious stones, as well as strong links to royal history, experts believe it could fetch up to £10million at auction.
Ms Papas said: “With such strong historical provenance, from Mrs Greville to the Queen Mother, and now the Queen, an elegant jewel such as this would be estimated to fetch in the region of £5-10 million at auction.”
The tiara was one of the Royal Family’s lesser known pieces, until it was worn at a high profile royal wedding in 2018.
Princess Eugenie was allowed to borrow the tiara for her big day, when she married Jack Brooksbank at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
While other tiaras in the Queen’s collection may not be quite as expensive as the Greville emerald tiara, many other tiaras are valued in excess of £1million.
Meghan Markle wore a bandeau diamond tiara from the royal collection on her wedding day in 2018.
The beautiful style featured an art deco bandeau of diamonds, which were originally made for Queen Mary in 1932.
