A third of the 2,000 females polled rely totally on their mothers for advice.
More than half always run a new outfit choice past them, with 30 per cent saying they would not wear it without approval.
A quarter share handbags, 15 per cent regularly swap make-up and one in five switches perfume and skincare products.
