Princess Eugenie crisis: How royal lifted lid on 'learned lessons hard way'
PRINCESS EUGENIE and Princess Beatrice have grown up under the intense and often harsh scrutiny of the public eye, with the former revealing the toll it has taken on them during a rare joint speech in 2018.
Princess Eugenie says sister Beatrice 'inspires her' in 2018
It is something that every royal has had to deal with: being in the public eye. What might later on prove useful as a tool in promoting good causes must at some points in life feel suffocating.
Many royals are subjected to scrutiny even in their early and teenage years.
Sisters Princess Eugenie and Beatrice particularly know about this scrutiny.
In their early years, when parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson divorced, the pair were likely aware of the intense environment their parents were blanketed in.
And, growing up, reaching their teenage years, their fashion choices often made headlines.
Speaking in 2018 at the WE Day festival, the sisters opened up about how tough it has been for them growing up.
Hoping to inspire the thousands of children in the audience to not give up pursuing their dreams, hopes, and aspirations, the pair used their turbulent childhoods as a point of inspiration.
Princess Eugenie said: “As young working women in the public eye, we’ve had to learn some lessons the hard way.
“In many ways, we are grateful for that.

“In hindsight, naturally.
“It taught us to be strong.
“To value those around us who love us and support us unconditionally.”
Beatrice added to her sister’s words shortly after, this time turning to the topic of bullying.

She said: “There will be too many moments on this stage today where you will hear stories of bullying.
“I don’t believe that there are many things in life that can make you feel more vulnerable, more helpless, more alone, than being bullied.
“It comes in many many forms.
“We’ve all suffered our fair share along the way.
“Growing up in the public eye means every embarrassing, slightly awkward growth spurt, or hilarious fashion moment, is published around the world.
“Together we have laughed, together we have cried.
“Ultimately though, together we fuelled each other’s sense of humour.
“When stones are being thrown, we reassure each other that people don’t often understand how hurtful they can be.
“This especially in the world we live in today.”
Last week, Beatrice was forced to abandon her wedding plans after the coronavirus outbreak resulted in a nationwide lockdown.
It is not yet clear when the wedding will be rescheduled.
