In 2012, Kevin confirmed that there were plans for a ‘The Bodyguard’ sequel, with the late Diana, Princess of Wales set to star alongside him.
Speaking to PeopleTV in 2019 Kevin reiterated that Diana and producers were eager to get the project off the ground.
He said: “The studio liked the idea of doing a Bodyguard 2.”
Kevin added that Diana would take on a role “in the same kind of capacity as Whitney”, adding: “Nobody really knew that for about a year.”
In particular, Kevin mentioned that he and Diana had discussed the possibility of shooting intimate scenes together, with the princess “nervous” about kissing the Hollywood star.
He continued: “I just remember her being incredibly sweet on the phone, and she asked the question, ‘Are we going to have, like a kissing scene?’
“She said it in a very respectful [way]. She was a little nervous because her life was very governed.
“And I said, ‘Yeah, there’s going to be a little bit of that, but we can make that okay too.”

Kevin also said that Diana’s former sister-in-law Sarah Ferguson initiated the talks between him and Diana.
He said: “Sarah was really important.
“I always respect Sarah because she’s the one that set up the conversation between me and Diana.
“And she never said, ‘Well, what about me? I’m a princess too.’
“She was just so supportive of the idea.”
When Kevin first spoke about the project, he explained that the plot would involve his character protecting Diana from stalkers and paparazzi, before their relationship turned romantic.
The actor revealed that a first script for the film arrived on his desk the day before Diana died in a Paris car crash in 1997.
The original film was a box office hit, taking $411million (£330million) on release, making it the second-highest grossing film of 1992.
Meanwhile the movie’s soundtrack remains the best selling of all time, with over 45million copies sold.
The film was the acting debut for Whitney, whose character is under threat from a mysterious stalker.
