Prince William brought King Charles to tears when he made a comment about the future of the monarchy, according to a recently unearthed clip from a documentary. As Prince of Wales, William is responsible for the Duchy of Cornwall estate, which funds the public, charitable and private activities of the Prince and his family. Speaking several years ago about the estate, William said he thought the "family angle" was "important" and gave some thought about what he would do when he took over control of it from his father.

During the ITV documentary, Prince Charles: Inside the Duchy of Cornwall, King Charles reflected on the conversation, revealing it made him emotional.
In the clip, William is seen talking to second-generation farmer Mervyn Keeling, where he revealed he was already thinking about the future.
He said: "I’ve started to think about how I will inherit the Duchy one day and what I do with it. I think it’s really important, the family angle, I really do."
Charles then entered the frame, who appeared to be particularly moved by his son's comments.
He said: "When I saw it, I couldn’t believe it. I was deeply touched and moved by what he said. Frankly, it reduced me to tears. It did, really.
"Because, I suddenly thought, well, just hearing that from him has made the last 50 years worthwhile."
As Prince of Wales, Charles was responsible for the estate for just over 50 years.
Upon the death of Queen Elizabeth II, William inherited the title from his father and became the Prince of Wales with his wife become the Princess of Wales.
In a post on Twitter Charles shared a never-before-seen photo from the Coronation last month alongside the message: "Wishing The Prince of Wales a very happy birthday today."
The message for the future King is in step with a recent social media precedent that only working royals would get a public birthday message.
It was believed to have been put in place last year, with the likes of Princess Beatrice, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle now missing out on public birthday messages.

The royals also shared a sweet moment during the Coronation when William declared his allegiance heir to the throne.
Before kissing the King on the cheek, Prince William said: "I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you and faith and truth I will bear unto you, as your liege man of life and limb. So help me God."
The King thanked his son whilst looking rather moved by the moment.
