Prince William teased for his 'awkward dad' energy at public event
The Prince of Wales was playfully teased as "endearing" but definitely not "Hollywood slick" at a recent outing.
Prince William hands out ‘Earthshot burgers’ in shock appearance
Prince William is more of an “awkward dad” than “Hollywood slick” when meeting members of the public, a royal commentator has said.
The Prince of Wales was spotted serving burgers to unsuspecting passersby from a food truck to promote the Earthshot Prize last weekend.
The 41-year-old father of three founded the Earthshot Prize in 2020, a global prize awarded to five winners each year who come up with the most extraordinary eco-solutions.
As part of a collaboration with the YouTube channel Sorted Food, which has 2.7 million subscribers, the Prince created the Earthshot Burger, made out of Kheyti greenhouse vegetables, cooked on a cleaner-burning portable stove, served in a biodegradable box.
Although William came across as “good-humoured and engaging”, Pod Save the King host Ann Gripper said he was lacking “Hollywood slick”.

One of the most highly anticipated events on the royal calendar is set to take place this weekend.
Speaking on the podcast released on August 3, she said: “Some of the reactions from people were very funny.
“William is quite ‘awkward dad’ in a very endearing way at those kinds of things. He’s very good-humoured and engaging but you’d never call him Hollywood slick I don’t think.”
Co-presenter Zoe Forsey added that Kate and William had been doing “such a good job” at the moment with this latest move from the Prince being a “clever way of making a good photo-op for something like this.”
It seemed some liked the “down to earth approach” taken with one commentator on the Sorted Food video saying it was a positive way to platform the Earthshot Prize.
They wrote on YouTube: “Honestly loved this so much, it’s actually so good to see him have this down to earth attitude actually showing passion for this cause rather than just see articles about him attending charity events that just seem snobby, amazing video for birth sorted and William.”

In videos of William meeting unsuspecting diners in Bermondsey, London, members of the public could be seen waiting for a burger beside a food truck when the “chef” is asked to bring out the plant-based burgers.
William, dressed in a blue shirt with his sleeves eagerly rolled up, turns around holding the burgers, stunning the diners who were left open-mouthed by their “chef”.
One diner said they were “shocked” and “froze”, another said: “Of all the things I was expecting, it was not that.”
Another diner joked: “My brain took three seconds to buffer. Am I dreaming? Have I had enough sleep?”
