Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to take a veteran reporter with them on their trip to Nigeria goes against their "Megxit manifesto", according to royal commentator Kinsey Schofield.
Schofield - host of popular podcast To Di For Daily - believes a young, up-and-coming reporter would align with values described on their website after they stepped back from senior working royal duties in 2020.
On sussexroyal.com, the couple's aims say they wish to "engage with grassroots media organisations and young, up-and-coming journalists".
Instead, PEOPLE's chief foreign correspondent Simon Perry has joined them on the trip, which follows Harry returning to the UK for a few days.
Schofield told Daily Express US: “In January of 2020, they announced that they were changing their media strategy to ‘ensure diverse and open access to their work.’

“The Sussexes explained that they planned to ‘engage with grassroots media organizations and young, up-and-coming journalists.’"
She says PEOPLE is 50 years old and there’s “nothing grassroots about it.”
Schofield also believes that, by ditching their plan to be inclusive and work with all different types of media, the Sussexes "are still looking to impress Hollywood".
Harry and Meghan have today been pictured in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, as their three-day visit to the West African country begins.
The couple were reunited at London Heathrow following Harry's brief trip to the UK, with his wife flying over from Los Angeles to meet him at the terminal on Thursday night.

The Duke of Sussex had attended a series of engagements in London in connection with his work with Invictus, although he did not have the chance to meet King Charles or Prince William while he was here.
Harry and Meghan flew on an overnight British Airways flight to Abuja, where they travelled in first class and were separated from the rest of the passengers by a curtain.
They landed on Friday morning and just a few hours later they were photographed being entertained by children at the Wuse Lights Academy, laughing and smiling.
