Nostalgic snaps of a baby Prince William have left Royal enthusiasts stunned due to the striking resemblance to his son, Prince George.

While George's similarity to his father is evident in more recent photos, historical images from 41-year-old William's christening highlight just how alike the two are - despite over three decades separating them.

William was christened on August 4, 1982, six weeks after his birth.

Adorable pictures depict Princess Diana holding the tiny prince as he nibbles on her finger.

The infant donned the family heirloom Spitalfields silk and Honiton lace christening gown - first crafted for Queen Victoria's daughter in 1841.

The same gown has been worn by 62 Royal babies over 163 years but was eventually retired after Lady Louise Windsor's christening in 2004 when it was deemed too fragile, reports the Mirror.

Queen Elizabeth then commissioned a replica, which was worn by George.

His christening took place when he was slightly older at four months in October 2013.

With only 23 guests, the baptism at St James' Palace's Chapel Royal was a more intimate event than the 60 who attended William's.

However, despite the differing styles of the gatherings and the updated attire, images from both events have highlighted just how similar father and son looked as infants.

Now nearing his 11th birthday, the young prince and future king's likeness to his father continues to grow as they're seen together at events, most recently at the FA Cup Final.

Following George's baptism, conducted by Archbishop Justin Welby, the royals and his seven godparents gathered for a champagne reception at Clarence House. They then came together for official portraits.

In her Christmas broadcast that year, the late Queen referred to the event as a "happy occasion, bringing together four generations".
